Your Voice Matters

An Erasmus+ Youth exchange that invited youth from eight different European countries to discuss and explore the topic of youth participation at local level. The project took place in the town of Örkelljunga, Sweden.

The specific context of a Swedish town gave the opportunity for debating youth policies at local level, next to reflecting upon the participation of youngsters in youth local policies, thereby gaining insight into how communities and youth can benefit (in)directly from youth participation. The project enabled participants to gain the experience of a cultural exchange and to acquire technical expertise on the basis of specific activities in such fields. Participants visited a refugee centre, interviewed people on the streets of Helsingborg, campaigned to be the next mayor, presented their sending organisations and showed their national cultures. The project was organised by the municipality of Örkelljunga; and in charge of the Swedish organisation IFALL (Enes Kilicay and Necmettin Meletli). House of Culture was one of the partner organisations, sending 5 Dutch participants to take part in the project. Other participating countries were Bulgaria, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Slovakia.
